Questions to ask a destination wedding travel agent
If you’re planning a destination wedding, you’re likely feeling overwhelmed. It’s hard enough to plan a regular wedding, let alone a wedding from a distance.
You may have heard that working with a destination wedding travel agent will help you navigate the challenges of planning a destination wedding. It’s true! However, not all destination wedding travel agents are created equal.
If you’re wondering what questions to ask a destination wedding travel agent, here they are!
What should you ask a destination wedding travel agent?
Do you have experience in destination weddings?
There is a difference in booking travel and booking destination weddings. If a travel agent books Caribbean cruises, they could be the best Caribbean cruise travel agent ever. However, if you want to plan a Hawaii destination wedding, they might not be the best travel agent for you.
Always ask if your travel agent has experience in destination weddings, or even honeymoons, before anything else.
Do you frequently book the destination I am interested in?
Want to book a destination wedding in Hawaii? Bora Bora? Fiji? Find out if your destination wedding travel agent regularly books that destination. Most wedding destinations offer training, so make sure to ask if they have done training for that destination even if they have never booked there.
Here at Aloha Travel Co., we are certified Hawaii Destination Experts! In addition, I am certified with all the major cruise lines, many individual resort programs, Disney, Universal, and more!
What fees do you charge for your services?
Fees will vary wildly between travel agents and can be anywhere from 0 to thousands. Make sure you ask about fees that your destination wedding travel agent may charge.
Keep in mind that for small intimate weddings and elopements, a destination wedding travel agent can take on the work that would normally be done by a wedding planner.
At Aloha Travel Co, we have connections with many vendors on the islands of Hawaii and beyond. I am happy to recommend vendors and plan details that you might not expect from a destination wedding travel agent.
How do you keep everything organized?
Another good question to ask a destination wedding travel agent is how they keep everything organized. Will there be an itinerary? Is there an assistant to contact in the event that you can’t reach the travel agent?
Do you plan accommodations for the guests or wedding couple only?
It’s very important to find out if booking accommodations for guests is included or if the destination wedding travel agent works with the wedding couple only.
At Aloha Travel Co., we are happy to either reserve blocks of rooms or book guests individually and separately from the couple. Working with guests individually can make it less stressful for the wedding couple!
What are the next steps?
How can I pay a deposit? Is there a contract that I need to sign? How quickly can I get rid of this stress and let someone else handle the details?! These are the final important questions to ask a destination wedding travel agent.
