The best lanyards for Universal
When I thought about writing “the best lanyards for Universal” blog post, I wondered if anyone would care. Well, you sure do! This has become one of my top Universal blog posts to date.
If you’re heading to Universal Studios, you need a lanyard. Almost everyone at Universal Orlando will be wearing a lanyard!
It’s an excellent way to keep your ticket or annual pass handy, better than having to dig it out to ride the Hogwarts Express, etc. If you have an Express Pass, it’s a great way to keep that handy.
I also use mine to carry my ID, credit card, and annual pass. Annual pass holders get discounts on food and souvenirs, so it’s nice to have it handy.
Do I need a rental car in Orlando?
Before we talk about lanyards, let’s talk about cars. I like to get around as needed while on vacation, so I want to rent a car. I recommend renting a car from Discount USA Car Rental.
Discount USA Car Rental offers the best rates available whether you’re flying into Orlando or Sanford.
I always fly into Sanford, which has more expensive rental cars than the Orlando Airport. With Discount USA Car Rental, I tend to save $10-15 per day on my rental cars. The best part is that you don’t have to pay for your vehicle before you arrive, but you can reserve it any time.
Lanyards for Universal Studios
Universal sells plenty of fun lanyards, but you might want to pick up a few before arriving. They are less expensive on Amazon, and there are more choices.
The cardholder that comes with Universal lanyards is also flimsy, so you should pick up a pack before arrival anyway.
The best lanyards for Universal
I have a blog post about seven things to buy before visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and a lanyard is one of them! However, this post has more ideas and even some for you Muggles out there.
I’ve got you covered if you want an in-depth guide on what to pack for Universal! I also have a full Universal Orlando planning guide that features all the questions you might have about planning a Universal vacation.
Wizarding World of Harry Potter Lanyards
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is fantastic, but the lanyard selection is not. You can represent your house with two different options, one thinner and one styled more like a tie.
There is also an “Alumni” option and a couple of others, but overall not very many. Options. It’s hard to be unique when there are only a handful of options. Here are more Wizarding World lanyard options.
“I solemnly swear.”
“Letter from Hogwarts”
“Dobby is a free elf.”
“Hedwig carrying a letter from Hogwarts.”
“Hogwarts Express”
“Slytherin with charm and sticker.”
“Deathly Hallows”
“Mischief Managed”
“Hogwarts Houses”
“Ravenclaw Crest Plaid”
“Gryffindor Pride”
“Deluxe Hufflepuff Lanyard”
Check out dozens more Harry Potter lanyards on Amazon.
Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure Lanyards
If you’re visiting Universal Orlando for something other than the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (Muggles), you might be interested in some non-Wizarding World Lanyards.

Planning a Universal Vacation
Are you planning a Universal Orlando vacation? I hope this guide to the best lanyards for Universal was helpful. If you have any other questions, please ask them in the comments below.
Although I’m a certified Universal Travel Advisor, I only book a few Universal trips as my main focus as a Travel Advisor is honeymoons.
You can always contact me for availability. I also send out a weekly email with all the theme park updates, so sign up below to get the latest.
If you plan to DIY your vacation, I highly recommend buying your tickets through Undercover Tourist.
There are a lot of really scammy sites out there, so make sure you’re booking through an approved partner (like Undercover Tourist.)
I also highly recommend staying online at Universal Orlando. Universal Orlando is now home to eight resorts; Hard Rock Hotel, Loews Portofino Bay, Loews Sapphire Falls Resort, Loews Royal Pacific, Aventura Hotel, Cabana Bay Beach Resort, and Universal Endless Summer Resorts – Dockside Inn and Suites and Seaside Inn and Suites.

Does the express pass come with the plastic holder that you attach to a lanyard? I’m confused on if i need to buy a lanyard with the plastic card holder.
Hey Jeanette, usually it would not. If you’re staying in a Premier Resort, your Express Pass is your room key. If not, it’s just a piece of paper. Either way, I recommend a lanyard with a plastic card holder! You can also buy them at Universal. Both plain and characters!
