Sandals Resorts in Jamaica
If you’re looking for the best Sandals Resorts in Jamaica for 2023, you’re in the right place! Although Sandals currently has resorts in 7 countries, 7 of the 17 Sandals Resorts are located in Jamaica.
In 2023, Jamaica is still one of the more accessible destinations to visit. If you’re interested in all of the Sandals Resort Locations, I have a blog post for that too.
I recommend working with a Sandals Travel Agent (like me!) or checking the official Visit Jamaica website for the most current Jamaica travel rules. As of the writing of this post, Jamaica remains pretty easy to visit, and the flights are much easier to get than some of the other islands where Sandals Resorts are located.
If you are looking for a good deal on flights, I recommend signing up for Scott’s Cheap Flights or simply tracking a flight on Google Flights to see if the price drops. Before you leave for Jamaica, make sure to check out Everything You Need to Know About Tipping at Sandals Resorts.

Sandals Resorts uses the term “luxury included” to describe their all-inclusive offerings. This is because you truly get more options than almost any other all-inclusive resort!
Depending on your room category at Sandals, additional amenities may be included in your Sandals vacation or honeymoon. Sandals Resorts has three tiers for their resorts, Luxury, Club, and Butler.
A Butler suite at Sandals is the ultimate luxurious experience.
You can learn more about what is included at each tier in my Sandals Resorts Room Categories post. I’ll also discuss more about room categories and inclusions later in this post.
Best Sandals Resort in Jamaica
Every Sandals Resort in Jamaica is 5-stars and highly rated. Jamaica’s six current Sandals Resorts include Sandals Ochi (Ochos Rios), Sandals South Coast, Sandals Royal Caribbean, Sandals Montego Bay, Sandals Royal Plantation, and Sandals Negril.
As of 2022, Sandals is working on two brand new resorts in Jamaica. Sandals Dunn’s River and Sandals Royal Dunn’s River. I can’t wait to see these resorts myself and will update this post with new information as it is released.
You can also find two Beaches Resorts in Jamaica. Beaches Negril and Beaches Ochos Rios. Since Sandals is couples only, Beaches is the best option for families or any non-couple travelers. The other Beaches Resort is located in Turks and Caicos. The two in Jamaica are more affordable than Beaches Turks and Caicos.
The best Sandals Resorts for beaches in Jamaica
Although I already have a post about the Sandals resorts with the best beaches, I will go ahead and start with this because a good beach matters! If your Sandals vacation or honeymoon involves being on the best beach imaginable, you’ll want to start at one of the following Sandals Resorts.
Just a bit of a spoiler, though, Sandals does not put resorts on bad beaches, so you can’t really go wrong no matter which Sandals. Resort in Jamaica that you choose.
Sandals South Coast
If you’re looking for a Sandals Resort in Jamaica with the best beach, the easy choice is Sandals South Coast! Sandals South Coast is set in a 500-acre nature preserve and has two miles of private, pristine beach. Not only is the beach itself incredible, but the water is very clear!
The beautiful beach at Sandals South Coast.
It gets even better; every single room at Sandals South Coast is beachfront, and (almost) all have an ocean view, with the exception of the brand-new Rondoval Swim-Up Suites. Sandals South Coast also offers overwater bungalows and an overwater wedding chapel.
This overwater wedding chapel makes Sandals South Coast a top destination for a Sandals Destination wedding. Not only am I a Sandals Travel Agent, but I have over ten years in the wedding industry before I started my Travel Agency. Now, I specialize in weddings, honeymoons, and other romantic getaways. Make sure to contact me to learn more.
If an overwater bungalow doesn’t interest you or isn’t available, Sandals South Coast recently built the previously mentioned all-new South Seas Rondoval Village, offering zero-entry swim-up river pool access.
Although Sandals South Coast has some truly luxurious options, it also happens to be one of the cheapest Sandals Resorts for a basic room. So, you can save a bit of money while still getting outstanding service and accommodations.
Sandals Negril
Sandals Negril is an obvious choice as it is located on Jamaica’s famous 7-mile Beach. 7-Mile Beach is often thought of as the best beach in Jamaica, making Sandals Negril an obvious choice for beach lovers.
Sandals Negril is an excellent choice for couples wanting a quiet and laid-back vacation.
I recommend a swim-up suite at Sandals Negril. You can hop right out onto the beach! If it’s your honeymoon or anniversary, why not enjoy the Millionaire Honeymoon One Bedroom Butler Suite with Private Pool Sanctuary?

Although I consider Sandals South Coast and Sandals Negril to have the best beaches of the Sandals Jamaica Resorts, every Sandals Resort in Jamaica does have a great beach! You can’t go wrong, but if an incredible beach is essential to you, I would choose Sandals South Coast or Sandals Negril.
The best Sandals Resort for honeymoons
Would it surprise you if I told you that I also have a blog post about the best Sandals Resort for honeymoons? Well, I am a honeymoon travel specialist, so I do. However, since that blog post encompasses all Sandals Resorts, today, let’s talk about the best Sandals honeymoon resorts in Jamaica.
Sandals South Coast
Sandals South Coast again?! Yes. Can you tell it’s one of my favorites? Not just mine, Sandals South Coast is a favorite for many guests! In addition to having a fantastic beach, Sandals South Coast is set on a 500-acre preserve with plenty of room to spread out.
In addition, Sandals South Coast is one of only two Sandals Resorts in Jamaica to offer overwater bungalows. What better way to celebrate a honeymoon than a private, overwater bungalow along with a Butler to tend to your every need?
Sandals South Coast also has the brand new Rondoval Butler Swim-Up Suites. These swim-up suites are an excellent option for honeymoons if the overwater bungalows are sold out or just out of budget.
Sandals Montego Bay
The private, secluded beach at Sandals Montego Bay is the perfect place to relax and enjoy time with your new spouse.
The original Sandals Resort, if you want a romantic getaway that will allow you to do nothing but spend time together, this resort is a must-see! The suites at Sandals Montego Bay are spacious, so you’ll have plenty of room to relax and enjoy your time at the resort.
A swim-up suite at Sandals Montego Bay is always a good idea!
Sandals Montego Bay offers 12 restaurants, 6 bars, and seven pools and has exchange privileges with the other Sandals Resorts in Jamaica.
Sandals Royal Caribbean
The Sandals Royal Caribbean is worth mentioning as it is the only other Sandals Resort in Jamaica to offer overwater bungalows. These overwater bungalows are located on Sandals’ private island, making them even more intimate and secluded.
Sandals Royal Caribbean also offers a private, offshore island and some of the most luxurious accommodations at any Sandals Resort. Sandals Royal Caribbean has been repeatedly voted as the Best Resort in Jamaica, so if you want to make sure you’re getting a great resort plus luxe accommodations, this may be the best Sandals Resort for you!
However, if you are looking a more quiet or secluded honeymoon, I would recommend choosing Sandals South Coast or Sandals Royal Caribbean.

Sandals Royal Plantation
This intimate resort has only 74-rooms but is near the best golf course in Jamaica. Sandals Royal Plantation may not be the best honeymoon option if you want to make lots of friends and have many entertainment options, but it is the best for luxurious accommodations, Butler service, and privacy.

The best Sandals Resort in Jamaica for snorkeling and scuba
If you know anything about me, you know that I love to snorkel! You can also scuba and select Sandals locations, and best of all it’s included if you are certified. If you are not certified, you can do that during your trip but keep in mind that is not included in the cost.
Sandals Montego Bay
Sandals Montego Bay is a great location for snorkeling beginners. Doctor’s Cave Beach offers calm waters for snorkeling near a coral reef. Snorkeling at Montego Bay gives you the opportunity to explore part of Jamaica’s first marine park: Montego Bay Marine Park
For those who are more adventurous, you can also snorkel at offshore reefs near Montego Bay. There are boat trips (that you can easily book through Sandals) if you are a more advanced snorkeler.

Sandals Negril
7-Mile Beach in Negril is easily the best place to snorkel in Jamaica. You can swim or kayak to a spot just offshore or take a boat trip to Booby Cay, easily one of the best places to snorkel in Jamaica.
Sandals Ochi
Not only is Sandals Ochi one of the least expensive Sandals Resorts, it’s also one of the best for snorkeling and scuba. Sandals Ochi also offers an abundance of other water sports including aqua-trikes, kayaks, windsurfing, paddle boards, and sailing.
Learn even more about Sandals Ochi here: Everything you need to know about Sandals Ochi.
Sandals Dunn’s River
Sandals Dunn’s River is Sandal’s newest resort located in Ocho Rios. It’s very close to Sandals Ochi, so you can use your exchange privileges and access 28 restaurants, 13 pools, and 20 bars between the two properties. Sandals Dunn’s River has some of the best and most modern accommodations in Jamaica.
If you’re looking for a brand-new resort with a modern look, check out Everything You Need to Know About Sandals Dunn’s River.
Sandals Resorts with overwater bungalows
If you’re looking for Sandals Resorts with overwater bungalows in Jamaica, you have two choices. I’ve mentioned them both already but it’s worth mentioning again.
A swim-up suite at Sandals Royal Caribbean.
Sandals South Coast and Sandals Royal Caribbean are the only Sandals Resorts in Jamaica with overwater bungalows. If you want the best that Sandals has to offer and your own private Oasis, overwater bungalows are the best option. It is important to note that these overwater bungalows typically sell out over a year in advance.
The best Sandals Resorts for golfers
My dad wanted me to be a golfer, but I am most definitely not. I am very bad at it and I find it boring. However, I have done some research in order to help you choose the best Sandals Resorts for golf. Many of my clients ask me about golf, and the best Sandals Resorts for golfers in Jamaica are located near Sandals Golf and Country Club in Ochos Rios.
Sandals Ochi and Sandals Royal Plantation are located near Sandals Golf and Country Club in Ochos Rios. Enjoy unlimited play while overlooking the sea only 15 minutes away from Sandals Ochi and Sandals Royal Plantation. This beautiful 18-hole golf course offers a practice range, putting and chipping greens, pro shop, restaurant and snack shack.
Keep in mind that while green fees are included in your Sandals vacation, you will have to rent clubs or bring your own (but you probably knew that!)
Sandals Golf & Country Club in Ochos Rios, Jamaica.
The best Sandals Resorts for foodies
Truth be told, all of the Sandals Resorts have amazing restaurant options. However, two of the Sandals Resorts in Jamaica simply offer more food options than the others, so they make the list of the best Sandals Resorts for foodies.
Sandals Ochi
The popular Sandals Ochi is one of the largest Sandals properties and offers 16 restaurants. The abundance of choices make Ochi the perfect choice for foodies. Restaurants at Sandals Ochi include:
- The Jerk Shack
- Kimonos Oriental Cuisine
- Le Gourmand Classic French Cuisine
- Bella Napoli Pizzeria
- Tapas on the Riviera
- The Mariner Seaside Bar & Grill
- Dino’s Pizzeria Italiano
- Great House Cafe
- Manor Caribbean Cuisine
- Kelly’s Dockside Over-the-water Restaurant
- The Reef Terrace
- The Southern Table
- Neptune’s Mediterranean Seafood
- Vista Gourmet/Sky Terrace
- Valentino’s Cucino Romana
- Soy Sushi Bar
Keep in mind that to be fair to everyone, Sandals does not allow anyone to book dining reservations prior to arrival. Once you arrive at Sandals, your Butler, Club Concierge, or Concierge can help you book dining reservations.
Sandals Montego Bay
Sandals original resort, Sandals Montego Bay also offers an impressive twelve restaurant options.
- Bayside Restaurant
- Oleander Room
- Cucina Romana
- Tokyo Joe’s
- Stew Fish
- The Cricketers Pint
- Dino’s Pizzeria Italiana
- The Mariner Seaside Bar & Grill
- Cafe de Paris
- Soy Sushi Bar
You can see that there are some of the same restaurants at both Sandals Ochi and Sandals Montego Bay. It is also important to note that there are nine additional restaurants located close to Sandals Montego Bay.
However, there are no other restaurants close to Sandals Ochi. Although Sandals Royal Plantation is nearby, guests from Sandals Ochi may not visit it in order to keep in a more private resort. If you want the most dining options possible and don’t mind (or enjoy) a party atmosphere, Sandals Montego Bay is the perfect choice.
The most luxurious Sandals Resorts
If your dream vacation includes the ultimate luxury experience, you’ll want to choose the Sandals Resorts that go above and beyond. Although the three resorts mentioned are the best, any upper-level Butler suite at any resort will provide the ultimate luxury experience.
Sandals Royal Plantation
Sandals Royal Plantation is Sandals only all-Butler level accommodations. With a personal Butler, you’ll know that every need will be taken care of. It’s a smaller resort, which is why you’ll see it listed later as one of Sandals most private and secluded resorts.
If privacy, seclusion, and luxury are on your list, Sandals Royal Plantation may be the perfect Sandals Resort for you.
It’s almost important to note that while those staying at Sandals properties generally have the ability to “resort hop” guests staying at other resorts are not allowed to visit Sandals Royal Plantation. However, as a guest of Royal Plantation, you are welcome to check out the other resorts.
This intimate resort has only 74-rooms but is near the best golf course in Jamaica and has 5 restaurants. If you’re needing a few other options, Sandals Royal Plantation is very close to Sandals Ochi which offers sixteen additional restaurants.
Sandals South Coast
Sandals South Coast has been mentioned on this list of Sandals Resorts in Jamaica often. It’s easy to see why Sandals South Coast is often considered the best Sandals Resort in Jamaica.
A swim-up suite at Sandals South Coast with a Tranquility Soaking Tub.
Sandals South Coast has to be included in Sandals most luxurious resorts in Jamaica thanks to the overwater bungalows previously discussed. Of course, the overwater bungalows as well as several other rooms at Sandals South Coast are the most premium rooms with Butler service.
Sandals Royal Caribbean
Again, the overwater bungalows at Sandals Royal Caribbean land it on the list of Sandals most luxurious resorts in Jamaica. Although Sandals Royal Caribbean is not considered a quiet or secluded resort, the overwater bungalows are the exception to this rule.
Some of the overwater bungalows at Sandals Royal Caribbean even offer a private pool!
If you want the best of both worlds, the overwater bungalows at Sandals Royal Caribbean are a great choice.
The most secluded Sandals Resorts
If you dream of a vacation where you can get away from the crowd, Sandals South Coast or Sandals Royal Plantation are for you. They are very different options but both offer that seclusion that you need.
Sandals South Coast
I feel like I am repeating myself, but Sandals South Coast makes the list yet again. Sandals South Coast is located on a private two-mile beach. This means there are no guests from other resorts, no vendors, no one except for Sandals South Coast guests and staff.
The resort itself is located on a 500-acre nature preserve, so it’s about as private as you can get!
Sandals Royal Plantation
Due to having only 74-rooms, Sandals Royal Plantation is one of the most private Sandals Resorts that exists. As I mentioned before, you can always hop over to Sandals Ochi if you want more dining options, more bars, more pools, etc. As I already mentioned, Sandals Royal Plantation is also close to Sandals Golf and Country Club in Ochos Rios.
The closest Sandals Resorts to the airport
Both Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Royal Caribbean are both very close to the airport. If you want to start your vacation relaxing instead of spending time in a transfer, either of these resorts might be perfect for you.
It’s important to note that both of these resort can experience some airport noise. It is typically not anything that changes your vacation experience, but it’s something to be mindful of. Sandals Montego Bay is a livelier resort so if you want close proximity to the airport and a quieter option, check out the overwater bungalows at Sandals Royal Caribbean.
The best Sandals Resorts for nightlife
Every Sandals Resort in Jamaica offers a variety of entertainment. That said, some of the resorts are known for being livelier while some are a bit quieter and more laid back. If you want the best Sandals Resorts in Jamaica for nightlife, you have a couple of very different options.
Sandals Montego Bay
As I just mentioned, Sandals Montego Bay tends to be a livelier resort which is good or bad depending on your preferred vacation experience. If you are young or young at heart and plan to party into the night, this is a great option!
Latitudes Bar with overwater hammocks at Sandals Montego Bay.
Sandals Montego Bay offers 6 bars including a swim-up bar and Latitudes, an over-the-water bar. The hammocks at Latitudes are incredible! You’ll also find just about every land and water sport under the sun at Sandals Montego Bay. Some of the best entertainment is also here, both day and night.
Sandals Ochi
Sandals Ochi is Sandals’ largest resort in Jamaica. With 11 bars, 16 restaurants and almost-constant activities and entertainment, you’ll always have something to do at Sandals Ochi.

The downside to Sandals Ochi is that it is one of the furthest resorts from the airport. You do have exchange privileges with other Sandals Resorts. However, the only nearby resort (Sandals Royal Plantation) is the one that you can’t visit.
That said, Sandals Ochi is one of the best choices for entertainment but is also one of the most inexpensive Sandals options. Even club and butler-level accommodations can be priced similarly to luxury-level rooms at other resorts. Sandals Ochi offer so much, you really don’t need to resort hop anyway!
Sandals Ochi is also home to the first speakeasy in the Caribbean. Just speak the secret password for old-fashioned cocktails and live entertainment. If you’re staying in a Butler suite, ask your Butler for the password! Otherwise, ask the concierge.
The best pools at Sandals Resorts in Jamaica
Every Sandals Resort offers amazing pools. Most resorts have several pools and many of the pools have swim-up bars. That said, there are two Sandals Resorts in Jamaica that stand out for their incredible pools, or pool options.
Sandals Ochi
Sandals Ochi had to make the list of the best pools at Sandals Resorts in Jamaica because it boasts the most pools at any Sandals Resort – 105! Yes, many of these pools and either private or semi-private but there are still plenty of pools to enjoy.
Sandals South Coast
Sandals South Coast is home to Jamaica’s largest pool. This fact makes it an easy addition to the best pools at Sandals Resorts. There are three very large pools at Sandals South Coast, and the main pool has an incredible swim-up bar.
If a swim-up suite is your type of accommodation, Sandals South Coast offers a brand new Rondoval Village with swim-up suites. This is Sandals’ first Rondoval Swim-Up option as well as Sandals longest river pool.
