The top 10 Kauai honeymoon resorts
So you’re planning a Kauai honeymoon and looking for the best Kauai honeymoon resorts. You are in luck because Kauai has plenty of beautiful honeymoon resorts to choose from!
Kauai is one of my favorite Hawaiian islands for honeymoons, and in fact, it’s personally my favorite island of all. The Garden Isle has a beautiful landscape, many outdoor activities, and beautiful resorts if you need a little bit of downtime.
Kauai doesn’t have a lot of high-end shopping or nightlife; if that’s more your style, you’ll want to head to Oahu. If you need even more resort options, the honeymoon resorts in Maui are also spectacular.
Let’s say you’re set on Kauai (and I don’t blame you, as I said, it’s my favorite island!), let’s talk about the best resorts in Kauai for honeymoons.
Do I need a rental car in Kauai?
You’ll definitely need a rental car for your Kauai honeymoon. I’d recommend a Jeep! There isn’t much for public transportation, and you’ll need a car to see the sights anyway.
If you’re looking for the best way to rent a car in Hawaii, I recommend Discount Hawaii Car Rental.
You’ll find the best deals on any of the Hawaiian Islands, and you don’t have to pay anything until you pick up the car. Yes, rental car prices are crazy right now, but you’ll still need a car to get around.
If you wait to rent a car, there might not be any available, so make sure to reserve a car as soon as possible.
The best honeymoon resorts in Kauai
Royal Sonesta Resort
Formerly the Kauai Marriott Resort, The Royal Sonesta is located in Lihue, just a few minutes from the airport. Located in Kalapaki Bay, a beautiful beach known for its calm water, you can start your vacation almost right after you land!
The Royal Sonesta is home to the largest single-level pool in the entire state of Hawaii.
While the Royal Sonesta is more of a “budget” option than many of the other Kauai honeymoon resorts, but it still has plenty to offer! In addition to the large pool, the Royal Sonesta Resort offers five restaurants, a spa, and a gym onsite.
Ko’a Kea Hotel and Resort
The Ko’a Kea Hotel and Resort is, hands down, my favorite honeymoon resort in Kauai. I book more honeymoons for my clients here than anywhere else.
The Ko’a Kea even has a honeymoon registry where couples can have their guests contribute to their stay, restaurant gift certificates, and more.
You can opt for the “Hawaiian Honeymoon Ritual for Two” at the spa.
The Ko’a Kea Hotel and Resort is one of the best boutique hotels in Hawaii and only has 121-rooms, so make sure to book your reservation early.
Koloa Landing Resort
One of the biggest draws to the Koloa Landing Resort is the 350,000-gallon pool. It even has waterslides and has been named “The best pool in Hawaii” multiple times.
Now, you might be thinking that the pool would make Koloa Landing popular with families, and it does! However, there’s also a tranquility pool that is adults-only.
You can also rent a private cabana near the large pool for a more intimate experience.
The Spa at Koloa Landing Resort offers couples treatment rooms if you need a break from all of the adventures in Kauai.

Timbers Kauai Ocean Club and Residences
Timbers Kauai Ocean Club and Residences offers a beautiful, upscale vacation destination or honeymoon on 450-acres with 2-4 bedroom luxury residences.
It’s only a few minutes from the airport and has all the amenities you could ever want. Timbers Kauai Ocean Club offers golf, horseback riding, tennis, hiking, paddleboarding, kayaking, yoga programs, spa treatments…you name it!
The residences at Timbers Kauai Ocean Club are spacious and have plenty of natural light and spectacular ocean views. Although I’m partial to my favorite hotel and spa on Kauai (The Ko’a Kea), Timbers is a close second for me.
For those with a large budget who want lots of amenities and plenty of room, it might be the best Kauai honeymoon resort option for you.
The ISO Kauai *extreme budget option*
The ISO (Island. Sky. Ocean.) doesn’t offer a lot of thrills and amenities, but if you’re looking for an extreme budget option, it’s a great choice! Although I recommend splurging a bit on your honeymoon, I do realize that isn’t always possible for every couple or budget.
While it isn’t a fancy resort, the ISO is directly beachfront and every room has an ocean view. The ISO also offers free yoga, a small breakfast, and a great onsite restaurant for dinner or Happy Hour. You might also check out the best happy hours in Kauai which mentions the Bullshed, the ISO’s onsite restaurant.
Plus, maybe you can save some money for a Kauai helicopter tour? I have a blog post dedicated to the ISO Kauai, so make sure to check it out.
Sheraton Kauai
The Sheraton Kauai is just a 10-minute walk from Poipu Beach, the #1 beach in Hawaii. It’s also next to one of the best courses in Hawaii.
You’ll be able to hit up the fantastic spa or go zip-lining through some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Plus, their a la carte breakfast buffet is among the best in Kauai.
The Sheraton Kauai is a great all-around resort. It’s not ultra-luxe like some of the other honeymoon resorts in Kauai, but it is still an attractive option if you aren’t looking to splurge on your accommodations.
The Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas
The Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas on the North Shore of Kauai is one of the most luxurious resorts on the island. It offers guests stunning ocean views and a variety of amenities to make your stay enjoyable.
The Westin Princeville is set on a beautiful acreage of lush green land with stately trees and tropical flowers that provide a natural ambiance. The grounds offer many places to enjoy either alone or with family and friends.
If you’re looking to stay in a more remote area with beautiful scenery, the North Shore of Kauai cannot be beaten, and the Westin Princeville is a great option.
1 Hotel Hanalei Bay
Formerly the Princeville Resort, formerly the St. Regis Princeville (lol) 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay, was set to open in late 2021. Unfortunately, the opening has been pushed back to summer 2022.The Princeville Resort was beautiful but due for a makeover, so I can’t wait to see what they do with this resort!
With 252 rooms, the 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay will be a luxurious haven for any couple. The resort includes nine different types of suites in four different categories. With four food and beverage options, you’ll never get bored with your dining choices.
The spa at 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay offers couples treatments like deep tissue massage, a Himalayan salt scrub, and more!
Hanalei Bay is also one of the best beaches in Kauai.
Hanalei Bay Resort
The Hanalei Bay Resort has a lot to offer for a honeymoon. Located on the North Shore, you have breathtaking views of the Pacific’s sparkling waves and crashing surf from your room!
Although I love an ocean view, a mountain view can be just as beautiful at the Hanalei Bay Resort.
The resort is set in lush tropical gardens and offers trails to take you through streams, waterfalls, and past fragrant orchids.
Grand Hyatt Kauai
Although the Grand Hyatt Kauai is one of my favorite resorts for families, it can also be a good option for honeymoons. The Grand Hyatt is a massive resort and does offer an adults-only pool.
You’ll also avoid some of the crowds and noise by traveling during the months that school starts and ends (September, May) which incidentally are popular months for weddings!
There are no truly adults-only resorts in Kauai, but if you travel during the summer months, make sure to request a room away from the pool. That might help with the noise!
I have a full tour of the Grand Hyatt Kauai if you’d like to check it out.
